Event description

Description

Draping is the 3D form of pattern making. The draping process permits free and accurate expression of ideas as the designer works. Material is draped and manipulated on the form and is then trued and transferred to a flat pattern. This is why we suggest taking both draping and pattern making together. They go hand in hand and are best understood when learned in tandem with one another. Students will learn how to take the 3D form and transfer it into a 2 dimensional flat pattern. In this first 4 week intensive course we will focus on basic draping techniques for the skirt and the bodice top.

All materials for this course will be included in the class fee. Students will each be provided a draping/drafting kit that will include fabric, rulers, French curve, tracing wheel, pencil, drafting paper, etc. Please expect homework in between classes in the form of sewing the basic skirt and bodice for review.
