The shining lights society presents Dramathon NYC. Each year a theme will be chosen and the three most promising playwrights of the year will be given 24 hours to write a one-act play. At the end of these twenty-four hours, the works will be presented in a staged reading by actors from the community who have donated their time to this event. While ultimately this event is a competition between playwrights and acts as a fantastic way for new playwrights to showcase their work there is also an important charitable component to this event. As every year a part of the proceeds from this event will go toward strengthening the presence in arts education in schools. So come out and support local playwrights, new plays, and arts education in schools. This is a rare opportunity to be involved in the process creating new theatre.
