'Drama Tools For The Classroom' Workshop

Monday 1st to Friday 5th JULY

O'Donoghue Centre, NUI Galway


'Drama Tools for the Classroom' is a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) course that develops primary school teachers’ ability to use drama as an effective way to involve and engage children in their own learning, as well as to teach drama.

The course will cover all the required teaching methodologies such as:

  • Active Learning

  • Problem Solving

  • Collaborative Learning

  • Discussion and Use of the Environment

While developing many skills that can be used in a multitude of settings with many subject areas.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The course is designed for primary school teachers but is also open to educators, therapists, artists and facilitators. It is for those who value the art of communication, the development of empathy and the value of cooperation, and wish to use drama and the creative arts to effectively engage children in teaching a range of topics.

WHY THIS COURSE?

-Facilitator Irene O’Meara brings over twenty years’ experience as a primary school teacher, dramatist and course facilitator and is renowned for her expertise in this field. As a facilitator, she creates an environment where personal and professional development go hand-in-hand with participation and fun.

-Irene’s teaching style is encouraging and supportive, where expression is enhanced and valued, while developing an appreciation of drama as an effective learning tool. Irene will offer a bank of ideas to utilise in many teaching situations that can be adapted and developed to suit individual needs.

-The course is EPV Department of Skills and Education approved. You will receive a Certificate of Participation on completion.

Monday 1st – Friday 5th July 2019, from 9.30am to 2.00pm each day at The O'Donoghue Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance, NUI Galway
