Drama is a unique tool to explore and express human feeling.
Drama is an essential form of behavior in all cultures; it is a fundamental human activity.
Drama is active and experiential. It can provide the context for participants to tell their stories, set goals, solve problems and express feelings. Through drama, the depth and breadth of inner experience can be actively explored and interpersonal relationship skills can be enhanced. Participants can expand their repertoire of dramatic roles to find that their own life roles have been strengthened.

How can Drama help?
1. DRAMA BUILDS CONFIDENCE
Even the shyest of children take just a few weeks to gently build up their self esteem until before long they are confident to take a full and active part in sessions - a few weeks is all it takes.
2. DRAMA HELPS CONCENTRATION
In every session at S-miles Center, children and adults are encouraged to listen to each other's ideas and thoughts, and to take turns. These activities allow individuals to recognize the value of concentration; a skill that is essential in the world outside their home.
3. DRAMA ENCOURAGES COOPERATION
Every activity in S-miles Center, from playing drama games to improvisation to singing together, requires co-operation. Children quickly realize that in order to get the best out of sessions, co-operation is a much-needed skill!
4. DRAMA DEVELOPS EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
By encouraging children and adults to 'act out' a range of emotions in the safe and supportive environment of S-miles Drama class, they are better able to understand their emotions and develop empathy with others.
5. DRAMA DEVELOPS CREATIVITY
Creative people are able to view things in new ways and from different perspectives, to think and generate new ideas - this is a critical life skill. Individuals will come up with solutions to problems and respond imaginatively to a range of pretend situations.
6. DRAMA NURTURES FRIENDSHIPS
By nature, drama has the ability to create strong friendships between children or adults as they laugh, learn and grow together week after week after week!
7. DRAMA HELPS DEVELOP LANGUAGE & COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Learning new songs, playing new games and participating in pretend play, all contribute to a child's developing vocabulary. They are encouraged to express themselves both verbally and through facial expressions and body language.
8. DRAMA SUPPORTS NUMERACY SKILLS
In S-miles Center, individuals don't ever guess they are learning along the way - counting the number of beats in a song or working out how many eggs to put in a cake are just a few examples of how being involved in a drama can help to develop important numeracy skills.
9. DRAMA HELPS TO UNDERSTAND THE WORLD AROUND US
We explore a range of different themes and introduce individuals to different real and imaginary situations, and make them more inquisitive and therefore more interesting!
10. DRAMA ENHANCES MEMORY
Rehearsing and performing lines and movements will improve memory. Our memory requires exercise, just like a muscle.
11. DRAMA DEVELOPS PHYSICAL FITNESS
Performing, even the most passive performances, requires intensive movement over a prolonged period. Many performing arts exercises improve flexibility, coordination, balance, and control.
12. DRAMA IS FUN
Drama is FUN at S-miles center. Drama brings elements of play, humor, and laughter to those taking part – improves motivation and reduces stress.
Drama sessions ensure that all individuals are equal and have an equal contribution; not only equal with each other but with the teacher as well. This leads to a sense of empowerment, promotes independence and confidence in the individual’s own abilities.
S-miles Drama classes are divided according to age groups:
- Drama Small Stars (5-7years)
