This will be an opportunity to experience Drag Queen Story Hour, to speak with librarians and teachers who have hosted the event in their schools, and to enjoy a fabulous afternoon of drinks, snacks, stories, crafts, conversation and drag! Plus, Greenlight Bookstore will be selling beautiful books!

Did you know DQSH events are complimentary for public schools?

The New York City Department of Education is recognized by the New York State Education Department's Office of Teaching Initiatives as an approved sponsor of CTLE for Professional Classroom Teachers, School Leaders and Level III Teaching Assistants.

Need more of a reason to attend? First:Second, MacMillian Kids, Enchanted Lion, Feminist Press, Sez Me, Reflection Press and Penguin Random House are offering fabulous, complimentary raffle prizes!

FAQs

**If tickets in your category are sold out, please email HVLA.librarians@gmail.com**

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Email HVLA.librarians@gmail.com if you have any questions.

What is Drag Queen Story Hour?

DQSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models.

In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real.

What is the intended age range for Drag Queen Story Hour?

DQSH is intended for ages 4 to 8 (Preschool through Second Grade), but all children are welcome.

Will food and drinks be available?

Yes, there will be a cash bar with a variety of food, beverages, wine and beer.

Can I bring my grandma/aunt/cousin/partner/wife/husband/best friend?

Yes! The more the merrier! Also, check out DQSH's upcoming events here.

May I invite the Diversity Coordinator, Principal, other teachers, or interested staff members to the event?

Yes! Although this event is designed for librarians, other school faculty and staff and parents interested in bringing DQSH to their child(ren)'s school are welcome to attend!

I signed up but can no longer make it. What should I do?

Either log into your eventbrite account and cancel your reservation or email HVLA.librarians@gmail.com. Thank you for taking the time to do this as it will allow others to attend.
