Event description

Description

This is a free teacher training open to any teachers in the Greater New Orleans area hosted by Fab Lab Nola at Delgado Community College.

This training will focus on how to safely operate the CNC router, using Vcarve as the main layout program for creating cuts on the CNC router

The fist half of this workshop will focus on how to create and prepare 2D drawings for the CNC router, and how to program those using the CAM software to generate tool paths to run the machine. This class will start with a demo on the machine, with the remainder of the class on using the drafting software Vcarve to generate and save tool paths, and importing drawings from other programs into Vcarve for programming.

The second half will focus on how to operate the CNC router. We will use the tool paths that were created during the morning to run the machine. Each participant will learn how to operate the command console for the router, how to load and secure material for the machine, how to change tools, and other general operation tools.

Materials for this will be provided by the lab for this workshop.
