Paul S. Jones has been Organist and Music Director at Tenth Presbyterian Church since 1998. Born in New Brunswick, Canada his earliest musical training began at the age of five in the Toronto and Western Ontario conservatory programs. He holds the doctor of music degree in conducting and master’s degree in piano from Indiana University where he was a doctoral fellow, as well as undergraduate degrees in piano, composition, and theology. His piano teachers have included Menahem Pressler, Edward Auer, Martin Canin, Samuel Hsu, and Susan Fullerton.
Dr. Jones is president of Paul Jones Music, Inc. (www.pjonesmusic.us) a corporation advancing artistic, functional church music for the 21st-century church. He has composed or arranged more than 200 sacred works including 70 hymn tunes and has recorded ten CDs as pianist, organist, conductor or composer/arranger. As a pianist, Jones has collaborated with violinist David Kim, cellist Anne Martindale Williams, duo piano partner Samuel Hsu, and Metropolitan Opera stars Jerome Hines, Sharon Sweet, and Stuart Neill, as well as other artists of renown. Dr. Jones is also the author of numerous articles, chapters, and books on church music and worship, and he regularly speaks on such topics at conferences, churches and seminaries across North America.
