Melissa is passionate about empowering her patients to take control of their health. Her goal is to bring things back to basics and optimize daily habits to help them feel their best. Maintain energy, throughout the day as well as during exercise, regulating digestion and ensuring quality sleep are important factors in stress management and preventing illness. In addition to diet and lifestyle inter-ventions, Melissa incorporates evidence based natural treatments to create individualized treatment plans specific to her patients’ health goals.

As a Naturopathic Doctor, she is able to requisition routine blood work as well as specialty tests such as food sensitivity testing and comprehensive hormone panels to help guide treatment for a variety of health concerns. Melissa has a general practice in downtown Toronto and Oakville but tends to focus on weight and stress management, insomnia, digestive concerns and increasing energy. Change doesn’t happen overnight, which is why her goal to work with you to implement sustainable changes. She will meet you half way and help guide you on your wellness journey.

In her spare time, Melissa enjoys staying active, creating healthy baking recipes and spending time with friends and family. Growing up she was a competitive Dancer then transitioned to practising vinyasa yoga during university. Now, she enjoys running, athletic conditioning and, more recently, crossfit.


Dr. Melissa Descoteaux completed her honours bachelor of science degree at the University of Ottawa in Biochemistry then completed 4 years at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto (one of 2 accredited Naturopathic colleges in Canada). She is trained in clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, therapeutic use of supplements, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. After her Naturopathic Degree, she received further training in Injection and IV nutrient therapy. Dr. Melissa is licensed with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario and a member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) as well as the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).
