Dr. Marc Lamont Hill is a nationally renowned thought-leader, activist, and expert on combating systemic injustice and creating opportunities for challenged communities. He is also the author of the New York Times best-seller Nobody: Casualties of America’s War on The Vulnerable from Ferguson to Flint and Beyond. As the headline event for our second annual Open Buffalo Justice & Opportunity Series, we are bringing Dr. Hill to Buffalo for an inspirational and empowering community conversation!

At this event, we will also celebrate the top finishers in our "Youth Community Builder" Contest, in which local high school students designed community-improvement projects and competed for funds to implement their plans!

Dr. Hill has written extensively on the criminal justice system, racism and social oppression, culture, politics, and education. He has also regularly contributed his viewpoints on CNN, Fox News, VH1, and BET News. Dr. Hill’s visit will help us to develop a lasting infrastructure for youth engagement and empowerment, as he will educate our community about proven models for student organizing.
