As immediate past president of American Planning Association, his story of leadership speaks to students of urban planning, well-seasoned professionals, and anyone in between. Silver has held professional positions in both the public and private sectors, including serving as the deputy director in the Office of Planning in Washington, D.C., Northern Manhattan Planning and Policy Director for the Manhattan Borough President in New York, and as a city planner in the New York City Planning Department. Silver currently holds two titles for the City of Raleigh, North Carolina: chief planning and development officer and director of city planning.
