Downtown Austin Parks Bike Tour

On National Celebrate Trails Day, this 8-12 mile ride travels along the Red Line Parkway, Boggy Creek Trail, Crosstown Bikeway, Shoal Creek Trail, and through Downtown. We’ll visit several parks, including Boggy Creek Greenbelt, Waterloo Park, Texas Capitol grounds, Shoal Creek Greenbelt, Pease Park, Republic Square, and Brush Square. The 12-mile ride can be shortened to 8 miles by riding the Capital MetroRail Red Line back from the Downtown Station to the MLK Station.

Those who have pre-registered for a free bike from Yellow Bike Project will be fitted for their bike ahead of the ride, at 9:30am. We will depart from MLK Station at 10:00am, and return times may vary depending on the route you choose.

The route will head south along the Red Line Parkway through Boggy Creek Greenbelt where we will stop at The Pillars. We'll continue south and then west along 5th street to the Downtown Station. We'll then ride up to our 2nd stop at the newly opened Waterloo Park.

From there we will ride through the Texas Capitol grounds along 12th Street to our 3rd stop at Pease Park. After that, we will ride down along Shoal Creek for our final park visit at Republic Square where the SFC Farmers Market will be in full swing. From there it is a few blocks along 3rd Street back to the Downtown Station. This will be the 8-mile marker and from there, riders can ride the MetroRail Red Line back to MLK Station, or ride the additional 4 miles back.

*This ride is intended to be casual and fun, but is not recommended for anyone under 14 or anyone uncomfortable on a bike. All wheels welcome!
