The Down Dirty Shake is a rock n roll band based out of San Francisco. Formed in 2005 by the founding four members. The group is deeply influenced by the soul that was the 60's. Touching on latin, psych, soul, pop and garage rock. The live shows are guaranteed to be an experience; always full of energy and raw emotion. Making all the soul mama's and papa's of the crowd feel good.
"Spindrift: experimental, epic, cinematically inspired music more akin to the textured, symphonic layers of Portishead than the chaps and 10-gallon hat–wearing Riders in the Sky….makes you feel like you've just been made love to by a handsome stranger, a genius visceral experience."
- LA WEEKLY
"[Spindrift makes] you feel like you've been granted access to the distant memories of a two-bit-saloon harlot as she watches her nameless lover ride off into the sunset."
- LA WEEKLY
"Spindrift are living the American dream, were it written by acid-popping UFO enthusiasts with a hard-on for John Wayne"
- THE SALT LAKE CITY WEEKLY
Rock and roll isn't a sound. It's not an attitude. It's a need, it's a fight, it's the saving grace in the wake of a broken heart or something lost.
If you ask what Down and Outlaws sound like, someone might mention The Stooges, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, or Lynyrd Skynyrd. But at some level, such comparisons miss the point. Call these San Franciscans bluesy, rootsy, dirty; it doesn't really matter. Down and Outlaws are a rock and roll band, pure and simple.
These days, when the definition of rock and roll is increasingly uncertain, the tight-knit quartet's energy, authenticity, and blistering live performances are impossible to ignore or forget.
With strong collective songwriting, Kyle Luck's guitar work, Jon Carr and Chris Danzig's gut-busting rhythm section, and Peter Danzig's howling vocals, Down and Outlaws play because they’ve got no choice. Music has saved the D&O, and they hope to return the favor.
"Raw energy, blistering guitar leads and dirty vocals over thick bass lines and driving drums. Though their aesthetic is dark and brooding, they write songs that are smartly accessible."
-- San Franpsycho (Bands You Need to Know)
"Down and Outlaws sets the tone for refined songwriting and tight technique in a genre often plagued by showy, loose compositions."
-- East Bay Express
The Spiral Electric began recording together in 2010 and debuted live in 2012, with Nicolas Percey on lead guitar, Clay Andrews on rhythm guitar, keyboard, and vocals, and backing tracks filling in the rest. Their performances immediately attracted the attention of local venues and musicians, and the duo played a string of shows in San Francisco, quickly expanding to a five-piece band. After completing two successful tours of the US west coast, The Spiral Electric has returned to the bay area and they have been busy working on a full-length LP featuring the current lineup of Clay Andrews (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Nic Percey (guitar), Ty Gerhardt (bass), and Sonny Pearce (drums) and playing select shows at ever-larger venues like Oakland's Uptown and SF's Chapel and Brick & Mortar for enthusiastic crowds whose numbers are growing exponentially. The spiral is spinning faster and faster.
