Dover Castle’s Napoleonic Defences – The Legacy of William Twiss Tour

Join us for an exciting tour exploring the incredible Napoleonic defences at Dover Castle. Discover the genius of William Twiss, the man behind these fascinating fortifications.

At the end of the 18th Century, England faced the greatest threat of invasion since the Spanish Amada. An exceptional Royal Engineer, William Twiss, was assigned to oversee the defences of the south-east of England including Dover.

Embark on a new immersive small group tour that highlights the significant modifications Twiss made to Dover Castle and its defences, shaping the iconic structure we see today.

This event has been graded as 'moderate' access with some uneven ground and staircases.
