Attend a doula workshop and take home information you can use today! Doula workshops present useful information on a specific topic geared towards mothers-to-be and new mothers. Each one is presented by a doula with specialized knowledge in that area.
December 11: Comfort Measures
Join Susan Wenger as we discuss and practice comfort measures that can be used before and during labor to help keep a clear, calm mind and find some ease during and between contractions.
February 12 –“The Seduction of Inductions”
Few women ever plan to have an induction, but nearly 20% of pregnant women are induced, often at the end of perfectly healthy pregnancies. This workshop will cover the pros and cons of inductions, various induction methods, situations in which an induction might be necessary and easy techniques to minimize the chance of an induction.
April 9 - "Creating Your Birth Preference List"
A quick overview including: what to cover in your birth preference list, viewing example plans, and discussing other ideas for a clear and empowering birth experience.
June 11 -Nutrition During the Childbearing Years
Join Certified Holistic Health Coach Jaclyn Downs as she helps you understand the importance of nutrition in your childbearing years. Dispelling common myths, what's safe and what's not, and helpful ideas on integrating new ingredients into your diet.
August 13 -Caring for Yourself during the Postpartum Period: Postpartum Survival Guide
Emilie McVey discusses postpartum care. She will touch on everything you need to know to feel equipped to care of your postpartum body.
October 8 -"Shared Decision Making”
Gwen McComsey will help you to feel confident in your choices during pregnancy and childbirth. She will provide you with a short list of questions to ask your caregiver so you can make informed decisions that will affect the positive outcome of your delivery.
December 10 - Using a TENS machine in labor
Join birth doula Holly Yeager as she explains the science behind the TENS unit and how many countries have made it part of the normal birth experience. A natural and effective form of pain control to compliment your body's natural endorphin response.
