Douglas ParkTour Description

Tour Host: Phil Skipper

In 1874 Bill Mackie pre-empted the land now known as Douglas Park and planted a row of potatoes: a simple act that unknowingly sowed the seeds for what would later become the centre of one of Vancouver's most vibrant and interesting communities.

Together we'll explore ancient creek beds and glacial boulders, colossal trees and hives for bees, one-room schoolhouses and lived-in heritage houses, laneway housing and non-market housing, street names and city changes, all along the way.

Join us on a walk through local history, as we bridge the past to the present, and explore the changes that continue to make this neighbourhood unique.

Tour Host Bio

Long-time South Cambie resident Phil Skipper grew-up in and around the Douglas Park area, and co-hosted the VanRoutes Ghostly Gastown Tour.

Special Instructions

This tour is not wheelchair accessible.
