Event description

Description

If you can’t resist a freshly made doughnut (not many people can), this is the class for you.

Learn how to make doughnuts so delicious that dunking them would constitute a crime! In this class, you’ll learn how to create yeast doughnuts—including the organic fermentation of dough, deep frying, and topping others with sugar glazes. Warning: after taking this class, you may never want a store-bought doughnut again.

There's nothing quite like the combination of a doughnot and coffee, which is why we're excited ti have Jay Kling of Irving Farm Coffee Roasters also be on-deck to teach participants how to properly brew coffee using three different methods. Easy like Sunday morning!

Instructor Bio:

A native of Frederick, Maryland, Chef Mimi Weissenborn found her calling for cuisine at a young age helping the ‘King of the Grill,’ her father, each weekend. She graduated from L’Academie de Cuisine in Washington, D.C. and is classically trained in culinary and pastry arts. Mimi credits her time as Sous Chef at Superfine in Brooklyn as where everything came together for her: how to focus on one or two ingredients in a dish and make them shine, how to keep things simple and interesting, and most important of all, how to work with the seasons. She was also the Executive Chef at 2017 Diners Choice Award Winner, Poco, in the Lower East Side. Besides teaching, Mimi enjoys developing recipes and serves as a food consultant.
