Randy Smith (www.randotunes.com ) is a singer-songwriter based in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. A Billboard and international award winning musician, Randy has recorded 5 albums and has toured extensively throughout the US and Canada, performing over 4,000 live shows over the span of his career.
Born in Shelburne Falls and a graduate of Mohawk Trail Regional, Randy began singing in his first band when he was 15. In fact his first "gig" was at Memorial Hall. "I remember we played right after Stanley Smithers, who was playing his musical saw" said Randy. "What a tough act to follow!"
As the former lead singer of 8084, Randy is now touring to promote the release of his debut solo album, Bittersweet, slated for a July release on the New York City based GB Music label. The shows will be a musical bridge between Randy’s time with 8084 and the present and future as a solo artist.
8084 have long been a staple in the AOR world. The group, featuring Randy on lead vocals, guitarist Andre Maquera, bassist Frank Barnes, and drummer Gary Spaulding, was formed in the mid-80s and quickly garnered the attention of radio, press and fans around the world with the release of their first album. Songs such as Bad Man and Hold On made the music world take notice. Within months of release, their self-titled album quickly sold over 10,000 units in The Netherlands alone. Other acclaimed releases followed and associations with producers like Gardner and Aldo Nova fueled continued interest in the group. The band has toured with the likes of Toto, Warrant, Blue Oyster Cult, April Wine, and Edgar Winter to name a few.
Also on the bill will be New England’s Hirsh Gardner, who will be performing songs from New England as well as tracks from his solo career. New England rose to rock prominence in 1979 with their top 40 hit "Don’t Ever Wanna Lose Ya" (listen) and tours with Kiss, Journey, Styx, AC/DC, Thin Lizzy and Cheap Trick. The group recorded a total of three albums for MCA and Elektra during their time together. The group’s catalogue has been released on CD in Japan, Europe and the U.S.
All the musicians involved have known each other for years, dating back to when Gardner produced 8084’s debut album. While they have worked in the studio countless times, they have never toured together before though so the show should be quite an event. With all the rock luminaries in the various performers speed dial you never know who will be popping by to join the group on stage.

Also on the bill will be New Hampshire based CRASHGIRL Taking older chart-toppers, revamping them for today's market. Meanwhile, today's pop hits get a "rock" makover. CRASHGIRL is a band with seasoned musicians. the combination of musical skill and years of performance experience has ensured a quality product.
Opening the show will be the local musical duo Helen Arbour and Donny Otis. Helen has performed in an array of local R&R bands including Harmony Arbour, Arabus, Skyline, and SureShot. She currently plays with The Eight of Us under the direction of Norinne Tiley. She also performs with The Bobby Darling Show & Liquid Floyd (a Pink Floyd Tribute Band) and is compiling originals for her next CD at Avocet Recording Studios in Shelburne Falls. Don Otis performed with Bloodstone, Colt 45, Joe Casey and County Reunion, Mill River Gang, Freddie Cole & the Cadillac Cowboys, the Barnstormers and most recently with Marla BB. * Ironically, Helen and Randy last performed together from 1980-81 as the duo lead vocalists for the Springfield MA based Arabaus.
