Event description
TeAda LOVES D’Lo and we know all of you do too. Here’s a great way to support this amazing artist AND support TeAda at the same time!

About this Event

Join TeAda Productions Board, Staff, Artists and Fram-ily for an evening of laughs, social justice and theater. After the show TeAda’s Board will host a post show reception for you and with the artist and crew.

The Show: To T or not to T?

Written & Performed by D'Lo

Directed by Adelina Anthony

Description: In a hilariously intimate reflection on taking T(estosterone) and his experiences transitioning, Tamil-Sri Lankan American artist D’Lo shares his confusion with, and pushback to, what is expected when one passes as a cisgender, straight, man of color. Fusing stand-up comedy and storytelling, To T, or Not To T confronts D'Lo's quest to embody a beautiful masculinity that upholds his queer & feminist politic.

Why TeAda:

1st and foremost, we at TeAda are HUGE fans of D’Lo and are so excited to be supporting his latest new solo work (which he’s been talking to us about for years). Nothing is more exciting than seeing an artist’s vision realized.

TeAda is currently partnering with the Program for Torture Victims to engage refugee and asylum seekers, who are survivors of torture, through our Theater for Asylum Seekers Project. You can also sponsor a community participant of TeAda’s program to attend this important and ground breaking work.

About TeAda Productions:

TeAda Productions‘ mission is to honor the displaced, exploited, and overlooked, by fostering opportunities for healing through artistic expression and community building. TeAda is a nomadic theater of color, rooted in the stories of immigrants and refugees. A pioneer in social justice theater, TeAda has developed multiple programs and theater productions that seek to empower communities of color. TeAda’s artistic process starts with conscious listening and community building. The stories shared in this process culminate in workshops and performances reflective of the community’s reality, offering transformative acts of service that have a positive rippling impact throughout the most vulnerable and neediest.

TeAda Methodology educates the general public about the issues facing underserved communities by offering workshops, community sharings, and by producing and touring innovative performances; both locally and nationally in traditional and nontraditional venues. TeAda’s’ purpose is to enrich the lives of these communities and support artists of color through artist exchanges, national level networking, ongoing ensemble building and training through programs like the TeAda Performance Artist Impact Fellowship, Refugee State, and Masters of the Currents.
