Event description

Description

Thank you for joining us for the fourth Double Exposure Investigative Film Festival and Symposium, a project of the nonprofit news organization 100Reporters.

Double Exposure is the United States’ first and only film festival dedicated to investigative reporting on film. It pairs five days of film screenings with a unique professional symposium that brings together watchdog journalists and filmmakers to foster dialogue and provide unparalleled one-on-one face time with funders, producers, festival programmers, distributors, media outlets, reporters, writers and directors, who can concretely advance investigative projects. This year’s festival will take place October 10-14, 2018 in Washington, DC.

Special initiatives back by popular demand in 2018:

  • DX Access: pre-arranged one-on-one meetings with industry insiders;
  • DX Pro Bono Legal Clinic: free guidance from top press and entertainment attorneys. Participating attorneys will consider representing reporters and filmmakers in need of legal assistance on an ongoing basis;
  • DX Academy, immersive learning initiative for a new generation of investigative storytellers currently enrolled in academic film and journalism programs; exclusive programming includes student pitch sessions and brown bag lunches;
  • DX Fellows, custom-built programming for journalists and filmmakers with projects underway;
  • Panel discussions: leaders in film, journalism and civic engagement unpack the investigative process and address the urgent issues of our day;
  • Workshops, practical skill-building workshops offer practitioners and others cutting-edge tools of the trade;
  • DX Pitch, select projects pitch one-on-one with leading gatekeepers of top funding, curatorial, and distribution platforms;
  • Networking, daily complimentary breakfast, lunch and happy hours provide ample networking opportunities.

“Every city in America should have an Investigative Film Festival.” — Tom McCarthy, Director, Spotlight
