The number of people born with intellectual and developmental disabilities each year is on the rise, yet they are being left behind in our traditional education system. This training addresses one aspect of education for youth with disabilities that should not be ignored but often is: sexuality. There is so much to know and consider on this subject - what sexuality is; its meaning in adolescent and adult life; and the responsibilities that go along with exploring and experiencing one’s own sexuality. Join us and learn the importance of sexuality education for people with DD/ID. Attendees will leave with tools that prepare them to discuss sexuality with youth with ID/DD, as well as specific activities to facilitate these conversations and a list of resources for continued learning.
