Event description

Description

Pre-registration advising is stressful for lots of reasons. How do we react when students arrive on our doorsteps unprepared or otherwise less-than-ideal advisees? Whatever our expectations might be, first-generation college students, members of marginalized groups, or students at-risk of dropping out might hear our expectation messages as distancing, and as “evidence” that they don't belong in college. How do we keep our expectations high and our messages affirming? Come share your own -- and learn some new -- tested strategies for relational advising.
