While Donor Advised Funds have been under scrutiny by fundraising professionals in recent years, DAFs may help your clients achieve their charitable goals and provide a meaningful long-term impact for charities – especially when paired with traditional planned giving tools. Through illustrations and real-life examples of legacy planning with DAFs, you will learn how local DAF providers partner with donors, their professional advisors and favorite charities to maximize the impact of their gifts.

Presenters: 


Phil Hanson
holds a BA in Integrated Social Sciences from Rockhurst University and an MPA from UMKC and is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®).  He has been the President and CEO of Truman Heartland Community Foundation since 2010.  His nonprofit career includes serving as the Senior Vice President of Development for the American Lung Association of the Central States and 22 years at the United Way of Greater Kansas City.   



Shannon Sundberg holds a BS in Music from Southwest Baptist University, an MFA in Arts Administration from Southern Utah University and is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy CAP®. She has been the Director of Advancement at Truman Heartland Community Foundation since 2013. Her nonprofit career includes serving at the organizations of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Kansas City Ballet, Utah Shakespearean Festival and Southern Utah University College of Visual and Performing Arts.

MACGP encourages dialogue among donors, professional advisors, and charity representatives. In addition to monthly programs, we also sponsor the Annual Building Blocks of a Planned Giving Conference, a half-day program is designed to present information useful to those wanting to know more about planned giving. The Council also sponsors virtual seminars and other programs for fundraising and allied professionals with related organizations throughout the area.
