The alter-ego spawn of Kenyan born and American raised Eddie Mutungu. The emotional clash between a strict foreign family while being raised in the free world left Eddie seeking an escape. He was influenced early on by freethinking artists such as The Black Eyed Peas, Lil Wayne, but possibly most important, Eminem - specifically his hit album Encore.
As Eddie grew into a young adult, he began writing music to help express the frustration of societal restrictions placed upon young men & women to prevent their voice from being heard. Much of Eddie's inspiration recently has been from local Palm Coast artists such as Bad Scoop A.K.A. Scoopy D. Wells of S.O.L.O. Gang, Stokely Carmichael of WWNF, and Written by Dola of Jacksonville, Florida.
At age 20, a crucial love loss caused Eddie to spiral into a personal deep dark hell. Still, music was the only solace. After moving from Palm Coast to Jacksonville, Florida; the idea of Donnie manifested.
For the common man and/or woman, day-to-day life can leave you feeling as if the person you are is not really who you see yourself as. Donnie represents the barrier between both the real world's perception of us, and the world we've always lived and dreamed for. Donnie puts a voice to the day-to-day thoughts of Eddie, as he maneuvers through, along with the rest of us, the present day American Dream. He encourages freedom of expression from the shackles of society. Freedom from the mask you dread putting on every morning.
Donnie represents a universal respect for all, starting with music. A thought process seemingly similar to many of ours, though expressed very uniquely. An individual engulfed in life.
As he speaks his thoughts to you, nod in unison. Break free with passion. Release your true self.
