Description

Help keep the arts going!

On volunteer power alone, Long Island City Artists, Inc. has turned a 12,000 square foot donated warehouse into a fine arts community center which provides free opportunities to artists of all disciplines and income levels in Long Island City.

Our mantra is "LIC, The Arts Happen Here. All are welcome."

A quick video about us: https://youtu.be/xi-q2Coavk8

In the past year, our membership has more than doubled. Previously, we produced two to three pop-up exhibitions per year. Since gaining access to this space in October of 2016, we have produced over twenty exhibitions showcasing over 500 visual artists, held two full-length theatrical productions, and expanded our programming to include children's' workshops, drawing classes, live music, poetry and dance events. We also provide needed space to other local community organizations, including PS/IS78 local public schools and their affiliated PTAs, Educational Fairs, Alcoholic Anonymous, The Secret Theatre, The Flux Factory, Laguardia College ESL classes, CreArt Music School and other community and education organizations.

Submissions to our exhibitions are free and open to everyone, staying in line with our mission to help all inspiring artists succeed. The cultural hub we have created provides a welcoming environment that encourages underrepresented artists who otherwise would not be able to afford the space and materials to create and promote their own work. In addition to our 12,000 square feet of gallery space we also provide 1,400 square feet of creative space for artists who can not afford studio space or rehearsal rental. Many of our events happen simultaneously, creating a rich and active environment that is inspiring for artists to work in, and for the public to enjoy.

Our organization requires additional funding to fully reach our potential. Our all-volunteer staff has taken care of all gallery business including curating and hanging exhibitions, painting walls, running events, lighting, constructing movable walls, managing our space schedule, social media, design, web support, marketing, fundraising, in short, everything that it takes to make a not for profit fine arts community center flourish.

In order to meet the demands of this expanding vibrant artistic center in a rapidly developing area, we need to financially support our professional staff as they can not continue on volunteer power alone.

As our organization continues to rapidly grow, and begins to achieve its deserved recognition, we need to increase our fundraising efforts to ensure we can continue to provide these free services to our community. Operating this much space with our growing programming is a massive undertaking, currently being managed by the passion of a dedicated group of volunteers.

We believe we are an excellent match for the type of project you are looking to support. We recognize the need for a community fine arts center available to the people who need it the most, and being a well established not for profit organization, we have the ability to provide these services.

We have the space, the program directors, and the artists, all we need is your financial support.
