Donald Davidson: Storyteller Extraordinaire
Thu, April 7, 2016, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM EDT
Indiana Automotive, an affinity group of Indiana Landmarks, hosts a talk on Thursday, April 7, by Indianapolis Motor Speedway historian Donald Davidson. In his engaging and entertaining style, Davidson will share his perspective on the history and impact of the famous track, a National Historic Landmark, on the approach of the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 in May. He’ll deliver his talk from the stage in the Grand Hall at Indiana Landmarks Center, 1201 Central Avenue in Indianapolis.
Known for his radio program The Talk of Gasoline Alley, Davidson will talk about the history of the Speedway, built in 1909, and the changes in the track over time in the run-up to the 100th running. Following his stories about the Speedway, he’ll answer questions from the audience—and his reputation suggests there isn’t a single query he can’t answer.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a cash bar and snacks; speaker takes the stage at 6 p.m.
The affinity group welcomes members interested in the early auto visionaries and the preservation of the cars they made, their factories, showrooms, and homes, and the landscaped parkways and roadside architecture birthed by the auto age.
