DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OUTREACH BENEFIT GALA 2017
On the occasion of Fr. Charles Dahm, O.P.'s 80th Birthday
Friday, March 31, 2017
Dinner, awards, silent auction and dancing
The Archdiocese of Chicago Domestic Violence Outreach will host the 1st annual gala to benefit our program on the occasion of our Director, Fr. Charles Dahm's, 80th birthday. We are celebrating to mark the wonderful growth of our ministry for victims of domestic violence, their children and even perpetrators. We have preached about domestic violence in more than ninety-five parishes and formed ministries in over eighty Catholic Churches in metropolitan Chicago. The Archdiocese of Chicago has taken the lead among dioceses in the United States in our faith-based response to this epidemic of abuse that afflicts families in every community.
May we all be a light to those suffering in the darkness of their homes and bring them hope for a life free of violence.
Join us to enjoy an evening of welcome, friendship, great food, dancing, awards and auction event. This evening will be an opportunity to network with others who share your interest in preventing domestic violence and promoting healthy family relationships. All parish-based domestic violence ministry volunteers, staff and friends are welcome to attend. Net proceeds will support awareness raising, education & training and prevention initiatives. Thank you for your generous support.

Domestic Violence Outreach Mission
Archdiocese of Chicago
The mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago Domestic Violence Outreach is threefold. The first is to raise awareness of domestic violence throughout the archdiocese. Second, is to promote the development and delivery of services, such as counseling and group support, to women, men and children victims of domestic violence, as well as to perpetrators, at local parishes and through archdiocesan institutions and community agencies. Third, is to advocate for the prevention of domestic violence. Girls and boys, young women and young men must learn to recognize the elements of unhealthy and healthy relationships. This is accomplished through education at home, in parishes, and in schools.
The goal of the Domestic Violence Outreach is to establish a parish ministry for victims of domestic violence in every geographic area of the Archdiocese. At present, we have over eighty parishes with active domestic violence ministries or ministries in formation.
