Description

This course will provide professionals who may interact with survivors of domestic violence with in-depth information about the dynamics of intimate partner violence. Participants will be able to articulate warning signs of abuse, build skills to interact with survivors in using an empowerment approach, and learn how to identify patterns of battering behavior. The workshop will explore the impact of domestic violence on children, and will offer practical information about serving families who have experienced intimate partner violence. Attendees will receive an overview of Helpmate's services and the coordinated community response initiatives currently underway in Buncombe County, as well as information about how they can support efforts to address domestic violence.
