BOOKING HAS NOW CLOSED

As part of Domestic Abuse Awareness Week 2017, SOS Domestic Abuse Projects is offering a series of free workshops to increase knowledge and awareness of domestic abuse in Southend.

Domestic Abuse - Working with Victims with Complex Needs: Substance Misuse and Mental Health is a half-day workshop. The session will focus on working with domestic abuse victims with substance misuse, mental health and homeless issues as they are amongst the most vulnerable, isolated and challenging to engage. This session will look at how to work together to provide the right support.

By the end of the session participants will:

  • Understand the relationships between domestic abuse and complex needs
  • Consider the additional needs of survivors with complex needs
  • Understand the additional barriers to leaving an abusive relationship facing those with complex needs
  • Consider how to best support survivors with complex needs

This session is for practitioners working directly with complex needs; mental health, substance misuse, homelessness and offending. Attendees are expected to have already attended basic domestic abuse awareness training.

This is a free workshop but non-attendance will incur a fee of £50. Attendees must work or volunteer within Southend Borough.
