Dolls Against Domestic Violence
Event Information
Description
If you are unfamiliar with our first event, last year we successfully held our first annual community event "Dolls Against Domestic Violence. WE (local survivors, family members of victims, outreach volunteers, our local domestic violence shelter, businesses as well as individuals within our community came together not only to share our stories, but let our community know how they can become more involved in the fight against Domestic Violence. With the help of our community we were able to bring awareness as well as help our local shelter with housing supplies, personal hygiene products, and The Clothesline Project apparel. We will still be participating in "The Clothesline Project," however we are taking donations of pre-illustrated shirts to be donated and displayed throughout October and future D.V. events. Our mission was to inform individuals to on how Domestic Violence isn't something you just hear about on the news, but something that unfortunately is reoccurring in our own community. The goal this year is to continue through educating individuals in our community, so they're knowledgeable to go out and educate others on the severity and make us aware of the signs we overlook in individuals we come in contact with daily. Similar last year, we will be having several vendors, activities, raffles, and expertise with information for anyone interested in advancing their education beyond the event! We will also have two resource organizations eager and willing to speak with individuals on how to get involved in our community year around. Last year we closed out with a Balloon release in honor of those who fell victim in our community. We are accepting donations of purple balloons to continue the released, however; we do ask for them to be "eco friendly" so they do not become hazardous. Like mentioned before last year we were able to donate a great amount of useful donations to our local emergency shelter in which we strive to continue. That being said General Admission will again be free to the community with a donation of personal hygiene and/or housing products for local shelters. All financial donations will go towards events, future programs with D.A.D.V., and helping provide needed supplies for our local survivor shelters. Please come out as we bring awareness to the ongoing cycle of abuse and attempt to help stop domestic violence by making people aware of the various signs! On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. That's roughly 1,200 people per hour, 28,800 per day, 201,600 per month, 2,419,200 a year. No, unfortunately we am not able to save 2,419,200 lives, but we are able to speak up for over millions of women who are assaulted yearly in the United States. In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness month, The Dolllhouse Makeup Artistry is thrilled to invite you all to our second community event on October 19th, 2019 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. Please come out for a good time and more importantly be a part of stopping domestic violence; as we bring awareness to the ongoing cycle of abuse.Thank you in advance for your attendance as well as contributions.
