Moderate-Difficulty
Family-Friendly Hike

Time to explore the dunes with your favorite hiking buddy—the dog! Join Macademia and Nancy Moldenhauer, Save the Dunes Board Vice President, with your canine for a moderate hike through Tolleston Dunes - one of the lesser explored areas of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. The Tolleston Trail is a 2.9 mile loop located near Ogden Dunes. It winds amid 10,000 year-old sand dunes that were formed when Lake Michigan's water level was 25 feet higher than today. Tolleston Dunes contains rare black oak savannah and unusual prickly pear cactus. Dogs must be socialized for an enjoyable experience and remain on leash per National Park rules. We will meet in the main parking area which only has ~19 parking spots, so please register early and consider carpooling!

Please direct any questions to Heather Pritchard at heather@savedunes.org or 219.879.3564 ext 121.
