Speakers will include, Tareq Baconi of Al-Shabaka, Toby Jones of Rutgers University, Bassam Haddad of George Mason University and Mouin Rabbani of the Institute for Palestine Studies. Journal of Palestine Studies editor Rashid Khalidi will moderate this panel discussion.
The panelists will examine the impact of shifting alliances and regional instability in the Middle East on the next US administration’s approach to the Palestine-Israel conflict. Weeks from the US presidential elections, this timely disucssion will explore the Gulf’s unspoken alliance with Israel against Iran, the Syrian crisis and ISIS, and the changing dynamics in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon, as well as the importance of natural gas finds in the eastern Mediterranean.
IPS Senior Fellow Mouin Rabbani will wrap up the conversation with an assessment of where the Palestinian issue likely will fall on the new administrations’ foreign policy agenda.
