Event Details

The goal of the workshop is to identify and discuss the opportunities and need for developing new capabilities to accelerate PV research and development, bridging the gaps between:
(1) macroscale metrology and microscopic characterization to advance PV cell and module performance, and
(2) field performance and degradation mechanisms to advance PV reliability.

The workshop will be held at the 2017 IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC)

Workshop participation is free of charge for PVSC attendees. If you are not attending PVSC, please register for PVSC for the day of the workshop.

In preparation for the event, we ask that you respond to a set of questions that will provide a basis for the workshop discussion. Please respond to the pre-arrival questions.

Breakout Discussion 1:
What knowledge about material/device properties and their impact on cell/module performance is missing?
Pick 3 important challenges and rank them in order of importance. How can these challenges be addressed by new or improved modeling or characterization techniques?

Breakout Discussion 2:
Q1: What knowledge about degradation mechanisms and the connection to cell and module reliability is missing?
Pick 3 important challenges and rank them in order of importance. How can these be addressed by new or improved modeling or characterization techniques?

Q2: What knowledge is missing to connect short time/accelerated tests to long-term degradation rates?
Pick 3 important challenges and rank them in order of importance. How can these be addressed by new or improved modeling or characterization techniques?
