Event description
In Kenya, where people with disabilities are often viewed as cursed, 3 teens set out to challenge this stigma by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

About this Event

In 2016, Kupenda for the Children accompanied 3 Kenyan teens on their climb up Mount Kilimanjaro. Join us to hear the story of those who have overcome immense challenges to prove that disability is not inability.

Kupenda, LaVida, and Waypoint Adventures are hosting a showing of the 1-hour film about this powerful project (see the trailer here!)

After, we'll have a panel discussion and then a reception with Kupenda's co-founders and the Kenyan youth who hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro. The filmmaker, Phil Knowlton, and one of the Waypoint guides, Julia Spruance, will also join the panel.

Film entry is free but please RSVP to this invitation!

Can't make it? Please consider making a donation to support Kupenda, LaVida or Waypoint Adventure or sharing this invitation and the trailer on social media and with your friends, relatives, and colleagues.

In October and November Kupenda will also be hosting additional screenings in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, California, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and Texas! Visit the Kupenda documentary tour page for dates and details!

Note: We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to fully engage. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact kupenda@kupenda.org.
