About this Event

Join us for a screening of Much Studios' document Positive ! This documentary is an intimate look at what it means to be HIV+.

Positive highlights a round-table discussion with Stuart, Justin, Cameron, Julio, and Xica - millennials who identify as HIV+. We will also be joined for a panel discussion by the moderator- Michael Rizzi, as well as Julio, a members from the round-table himself!

It will be an intimate evening of learning, sharing, and discussion about community and what it means to navigate HIV in 2019. This screening is a collaboration between Casey House and the CRUISElab.

Much Studios on Positive: "Together they open up about identity, stigmas, relationships, the concept of U=U, allyship, and the importance of history.

We follow them through their involvement in the community, their hobbies, and get to dive into their personal stories. We learn about their how they cope with the condition, advocate for change, and about their overall journey to finding peace with their diagnoses. Intimate, uplifting, and positive in its outlook, the documentary sheds light on a stigmatized illness and beautifully captures the experience of living with HIV in 2019."

Accessibility information: This event will be held in the Dining room on the ground level of Casey House (119 Isabella St - 1st floor). It's a flat surface to get into the room, there aren't any steps or ledges inside, and the building has wide doors and hallways. There are single person ballrooms on the same floor as the room.

There isn't parking at the location besides street parking in front of and around the building.

We don't have ASL interpreters (but if you'd like to volunteer, reach out!). We will be playing the auto-generated captions on the documentary and the speakers will have microphones. Personal support persons are welcome at the event- we recommend getting a ticket for them as well.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at cruiselab.utoronto.ca or call 416-946-7023 EXT: 1019.
