Description

Doctoral Consortium

The Doctoral Consortium will take place in conjunction with the 7th International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development, (MODELSWARD), to be held February 20 - 22 in Prague, Czech Republic. The MODELSWARD 2019 doctoral consortium will provide an opportunity for graduate students to explore their research interests in an interdisciplinary workshop, under the guidance of a panel of distinguished experts in the field.

The Doctoral Consortium on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development is intended to bring together Ph.D. students within the agents and artificial intelligence fields to discuss their research in an international forum. More precisely, the Doctoral Consortium will provide students with an opportunity to: - Present their research work in a relaxed and supportive environment; - Receive feedback and suggestions from peers and experienced faculty members; - Gain an overview of the breadth and depth of agents and artificial intelligence; - Obtain insight into directions for agents and artificial intelligence taken by other doctoral candidates; - Discuss concerns about research, supervision, the job market, and other issues; - Network with peers and future colleagues Thus, the symposium will help shape ongoing and future research projects aimed at agents and artificial intelligence, will promote scholarship and networking among new researchers in this emerging interdisciplinary area, and will expose these promising young researchers to the larger global community.

ADVISORY BOARD
The Doctoral Consortium advisory board will comment each presentation and at the end of the consortium there will be a general discussion, including a reflection about current and future research topics in the area.

DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM REQUIREMENTS AND RULES
The Doctoral Consortium is based on the following requirements and rules:

It is open only to Doctoral Students who have started their research;
Each student with an accepted paper at the Doctoral Consortium must register and attend MODELSWARD: a special student fee applies;
Each paper must be presented by the student
Submissions will be judged mainly on relevance, originality, technical quality and clarity;
Paper length: Between 3 and 12 pages;
Papers must be written in MS-Word or Latex including the following information:
research problem;
outline of objectives;
state of the art;
methodology and
expected outcome;
stage of the research.

Registered papers will be included in the CD-ROM that includes the proceedings of the conference and the papers presented at the venue will also be included in the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. However, they will not be included in the book of proceedings as archival publications therefore they will remain free of copyright.

SCOPE

The purpose of the International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development, MODELSWARD 2019, is to provide a platform for researchers, engineers, academics as well as industrial professionals from all over the world to present their research results and development activities in using models and model driven engineering techniques for Software Development. Model-Driven Development (MDD) is an approach to the development of IT systems in which models take a central role, not only for analysis of these systems but also for their construction. MDD has emerged from modelling initiatives, most prominently the Model-Driven Architecture (MDA) fostered by the Object Management Group (OMG). In the scope of MDA, a couple of technologies have been developed that became the cornerstones of MDD, like metamodelling and model transformations. MDD relies on languages for defining metamodels, like the Meta-Object Facility (MOF) and Ecore (developed in the scope of the Eclipse Modelling Framework), and transformation specification languages like QVT and ATL.
MDD is already around for some years and is about to become commodity in software development due to its benefits (reduction on development costs, improvement of software quality, reduction of maintenance costs and the support for controlled evolution of IT systems). MDD has also been applied in many application areas, such as real-time and embedded systems, and telecommunication systems, and, more recently, to the development and integration of enterprise information systems. However, the MDD research community is wishing to explore the bounds of MDD, by investigating new applications areas and combinations with other emerging technologies, like, for example, pervasive context-aware systems, semantic web, semantic web services, service-oriented architecture, ontologies and cloud computing. This conference aims at fostering the further development and application of MDD techniques for software systems.
Papers describing advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques and general survey papers indicating future directions are also encouraged. Papers reporting on original work in any of the areas listed below are welcome. Accepted papers, presented at the conference by one of the authors, will be published in the Proceedings of MODELSWARD. The submitted papers will be reviewed by at least three experts in this area, and acceptance will be based on quality, relevance and originality. The conference is open to full research and (short) work-in-progress papers. Sessions are planned for both oral and poster presentations.
