Docent tour of the Exhibits of four exciting Contemporary Artists at the Power Plant Gallery

About this Event

We will tour the exhibitions of the following acclaimed artists whose works include photography, film, mixed media and site specific installations:

Naeem Mohaiemen, What We Found After You Left

This exhibition is a video installation presenting four films in a rotating program, with an outer hallway containing photographs, prints, sculptures and objects related to the films. Naeem was a Guggenheim fellow who was shortlisted for the Turner prize in 2018.

Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa, Asymmetries

This large mixed media exhibition includes film and photography in works from the past decade. The artist, a Canadian-Guatemalan, reveals a range of preoccupations, from conspiracy theories to bird song, as well as Guatemala’s architectural history.

Dawit L. Petros, Spazio Disponibile

This photography exhibit by Canadian artist, Dawit L. Petros, explores relationships between African histories and European modernism, investigating artistic, geographical and cultural boundaries using photography and installations. He is Assistant Professor at the Department of Photography, School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Rashid Johnson, Anxious Audience

Rashid, an American artist, stages a major new site-specific installation. Entering the Clerestory, we are surrounded by two monumental tiled panels each containing an accumulation of over 100 human faces.

Last day to register is April 22.

Maximum Attendance: 25. A waitlist will be maintained

Notes:

• TTC: Take the subway to Union Station and board the 509 or 510 streetcar heading west to Harbourfront Centre. Exit your streetcar at the Queens Quay W Harbourfront Centre stop.

• Parking: Underground parking is available directly in front of the gallery and above ground at Queens Quay W and Rees St. Parking is $5/30 min. or $25 daily maximum.

• Lunch: Box Car Social is across the courtyard if you would like to make arrangements yourself
