Inaction. It's what got us here.
We let hatred overshadow truth
We enabled fear to besiege communication
We fostered polarity at the expense of understanding.
Over the past 2 years, my company has innovated at the intersection of data science and biotech industries—experimenting with business processes in nonprofits and companies alike to understand how truth is pursued during decisionmaking.
There's a certain amount of information that's needed for us to make a good decision. Did we have the full picture for this election? Who were the people producing visualizations of data? Primarily they came from large companies, expansive newsletters, and (most alarmingly) from the pressroom of candidates.
Here's exactly how we plan to make a difference from today forward:
By Mid-December we will form 50 dynamic interdisciplinary teams of industry professionals, students, engineers, designers, scientists, and activists. Each team will have 6 people, and two mentors. Free admission for all participants; please donate if you'd like us to build scholarships for students from underserved communities.
We've already brought together Ph.D. scientists and business experts from academic and industrial organizations to mentor the teams.
If you want to make a real impact, take a real step. It takes guts, and it takes a risk. We're going to change the way people & politicians think about data in politics & government, and you do have the power to make that change.
The facts matter. Let's invent the new science of political communication.
Please contact me directly if you would like to be added to the group of mentors.
Exact building and room TBD before November 25th.
