Thursday, August 1st from 6:30 - 7:30 pm EST

Andrew Burrows, Scrum Master, IBM

Rob Purdie, Agile Practice Lead, IBM

Scrum — an agile framework for completing complex projects — has exploded over the past decade. Hyper-productive teams have been known to produce 400% ROI compared to non-Scrum teams yet most teams continue to struggle with Scrum implementation. This class will highlight a few practical strategies to help you try scrum in your team.

  • Define and describe the principles of the Scrum framework

  • Understand how to apply Scrum to a project

  • Students may wish to read the Scrum Guide at

Andrew Burrows is a Scrum Master currently working with IBM. Prior to this, he worked in video game development for over 12 years. During that time he shipped on numerous titles, including “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”; “Transformers: The Movie”; and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”. For the past five years, Andrew has been working at Large Animal games in New York City, developing social games in a fast-paced, close-knit, agile environment. When not writing bios, Andrew enjoys watching baseball and spending time with his incredible wife and son.

Rob Purdie is an Agile Practice Lead at IBM. Before joining IBM, Rob facilitated the adoption of Scrum at the Economist. He founded the NYC Scrum User Group to bring together the NYC Scrum community, which is now in its fourth year. Rob lives in Brooklyn and his MBTI is INFJ just like Gandhi and Camus.
