DJ Deas Marvelous Light 5K Walk Join us in bringing others Out of the Darkness into the Marvelous Light!!

About this Event

The Darnell Deas, Jr. Marvelous Light Foundation, Inc. will host its first annual 5K Run/Walk in memory of Darnell Deas, Jr. Join community-minded and socially conscious participants to advance awareness of mental health and suicide prevention. Registration donations and sponsorships benefit the DJ Deas Marvelous Light Scholarship Fund and Mental Health First Aid Training. Each year four $1,000 scholarships will be given to senior high school students across the country in cities where Darnell Deas, Jr. participated in community activities, high school football and track. In addition, a scholarship will be awarded to a 2019 graduating NHS senior! Further information and application directions are available on the website at www.djdeasmarvelouslightfoundation.com/. Or you can pick up an application at the NHS front office.

Participant Waiver for Race Registration

I know that walking/running/volunteering for a 5K walk is potentially hazardous activity, which could cause injury or death. I will not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree that by my registration and payment, I certify that I am medically able to perform this event, and am in good health, and I am properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a walk official relative to any aspect of my participation in this event, including the right of any official to deny or suspend my participation for any reason whatsoever. I attest that I have read the rules of the walk and agree to abide by them. I assume all risks associated with walking/running in this event, including but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the roads and paths, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. I understand that bicycles, skateboards, baby joggers, roller skates or roller blades, animals, and personal music players are not allowed in the walk and I will abide by all walk rules. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and inconsideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Darnell Deas Jr., Marvelous Light Foundation, Inc., DJ Deas Marvelous Light 5K Walk, the city of Navarre, Santa Rosa County, all event sponsors and partners, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose. I understand that this event does not provide for refunds in the event of a cancellation, and by registration and payment, I am agreeing that I consent that I am not entitled to a refund if the event is cancelled before or during the event.


Why is this event so early?

We want the early risers who are passionate about this cause to experience a Saturday walk that gives back to charity and the community.

What can I bring to the event?

Bring you and a smile. There will be plenty of refreshments and water to keep you hydrated.

What's the refund policy?

Yes, this is a volunteer fun walk but it has been coordinated for the benefit of charity. Proceeds will benefit the DJ Deas Marvelous Light Scholarship Fund and Mental Health First Aid Training.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

As long as you register before 6 a.m. on the day before the walk we will have your information.

Is my registration transferable?

Because of the waiver agreement that is explicitly consented during registration and payment, the registration is not transferable. Any individual wishing to register must do so in his/her own name.

Where can I pick up my bib/packet prior to the race?

Navarre Conference Center | 8700 Navarre Parkway, Navarre, FL 32566

Please pick up packets between 5:00-6:00 P.M.

What are the accepted methods of payment on race day?

You may register on site the day of the race between 7:00-7:50 A.M. via: Cash, Credit Card & PayPal payments.

What happens if it rains?

The Run/Walk will happen rain or shine.
