Description

January is a wonderful time of year, when everything is fresh and new. RV SHRM is thrilled to kick off 2019 with two very special offerings for you.

First is our special SHRM Foundation Raffle. This month we are raffling 2 tickets to the Oregon State SHRM Legal Seminar in Portland, OR on February 27. For this special raffle, you may purchse your tickets when you purchase your program tickets. You may also purchase just raffle tickets as you need not be present to win. There will be 2 winners (1 ticket per person, a $249 value).

Second is this January program presented by the ever popular Jennifer Bouman-Steagall. Jennifer's dynamic and thought provoking style has been a sell out favorite many times at RV SHRM. You will not want to miss this program! *Please note that due to the popularity of this speaker, tickets often sell out quickly.

In the wake of #MeToo, voter election campaign fatigue, viral videos, social media backlash, political division, and societal discord, we are inundated with stories of the contempt and bias people have for others. Issues of sexual harassment, gender discrimination, LGBTQ+, race, national origin, religion, and bullying are all at the forefront of conversations as collective societal voices raise awareness of inappropriate behavior. Does your organization have the structural foundations necessary to encourage, foster and sustain a harassment and retaliation-free workplace? Join us for this engaging and interactive program as we discuss policies, processes, and expectations for behaviors designed to encourage diversity, inclusion, accountability, professionalism and respect.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss how societal division and discord is negatively impacting workplaces and team dynamics.
  • Learn what micro-aggressions are and how to avoid them.
  • Explore the societal trends involving hot topic protected class demographics.
  • Discuss how to use policies, job descriptions, and performance management strategies to keep the negative societal influences out of your workplace.
  • Understand the legal risks associated with harassment, discrimination, retaliation and bullying.
