Event description

Description

This workshop will be available either in person at Cultivate LONDON or via Webinar.

A diverse business is defined multiple ways. Whether your business is owned by minorities, women, LGBTQ identifying individuals, or veterans, or a majority of your employees identify with one of those identities, you may be eligible to obtain a diversity classification for your business based on one of those classifications. Join Jasmin Hurley, Associate at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, as she walks through the various classifications available to businesses. With this knowledge, your business will be able to tap into new resources and funding dedicated to enhancing your business’ prosperity.

This event would be ideal for any small business that would like to learn:

  • What certifications are available to a business

  • How to become diversity certified

  • What the benefits are tied to having a diversity certification (i.e. being able to receive projects from larger companies or funds from organizations seeking to support diversity certified businesses.)

Speaker: Jasmin Hurley, Associate at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur

Emerging businesses need a guide to help in navigating legal issues. Jasmin advises startup and small businesses regarding entity structure, formation, governance and financing, as well as preparation of business and commercial documents. She advises women-, minority- and veteran-owned businesses regarding business certification at the local, state and national levels, and provides support during the application process. Her clients cross many industries, including food and beverage, health care, media and technology.

Speaker: Ellen Harvey, Certified Business Advisor and Capital Access Manager for Ohio Small Business Development Center at Columbus State Community College.

Ellen is an economic development and lending relations professional with 18 years of experience and has assisted thousands of entrepreneurs with access to capital, resources, training, and counseling. In addition, Harvey has served as the Director of the Women’s Business Center and as a Business Consultant for the Minority Business Assistance Center which has given her a unique perspective into the special issues that confront minorities, women, and economically and socially disadvantaged business owners.
