Description

On Thursday 28 February, Imperial As One will be hosting a Diversithon: a Wikipedia edit-a-thon at Imperial College London. You are invited to come to learn about how to you can contribute to making or improving Wikipedia entries of notable Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic professionals in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Our guest speakers will also talk to you about why visible diversity is important in STEM and how Wikipedia can be used to create a more diverse and inclusive Science community.

You should attend because:

- Sharing knowledge makes you happy!

- You can expand your own knowledge while editing

- Your communication skills will improve, as you will be engaging in lively discussions

- Wikipedia has millions of users everyday and making it reflective of the hidden figures in science is important for STEM

Jess Wade (Physics postdoc and Wiki editing champion)

Faith Uwadiae (Crick postdoc and Twitter Black History Month star)

Mark Richards (Senior Teaching Fellow in Physics and Departmental Head of Outreach)


Wikipedia is one of the most-used websites in the world and is an important resource for science. This event will help you build the skills to contribute to and improve Wikipedia. These are useful skills for anyone with an interest in communicating science.
