Event Details

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the first social services exchange hosted by Chicago, we are convening a two-day conference in Chicago on June 9–10.

To create a positive impact on the complex social welfare challenges faced by cities around the world and commemorate this model of cultural collaboration and sharing of best practices, official delegates from the seven cities that have participated in past exchanges will come together to present information about work being done in their country.

The two-day conference will explore topics around the theme of diverse international approaches to the prevention of violence in the areas of child abuse and neglect; youth violence; elder abuse; and gender-based violence.

The participating cities are Birmingham, United Kingdom; Casablanca, Morocco; Chicago, Illinois.; Durban, South Africa; Hamburg, Germany; Osaka, Japan; Paris, France; and Shanghai, China.

Conference objectives include learning about a variety of cultural visions and best practices which address and empower at-risk populations, including youth, women, and elderly; highlighting how this exchange model addresses the interconnected social challenges faced by cities around the world; and strategizing how to expand cross cultural collaboration to improve social services globally.

A limited number of seats are available to this free conference. Register today to secure your spot!

3.5 CEUs will be provided each day through the Jane Adams College of Social Work (JACSW) for $5 per certificate. To receive your CEU's check-in at the beginning and end of the day. Please bring a $5 check made out to JACSW and have your license number on hand.
