Presentation of team responses to an EIR for a proposed development of a Multidisciplinary Digital Design Technologies: Centre of Excellence

About this Event

DIT’s School of Multidisciplinary Technologies would like to invite you to a presentation of multidisciplinary team responses to an Employers Information Requirement for the proposed development of a new, three-storey Multidisciplinary Digital Design Technologies: Centre of Excellence block situated adjacent to the existing Dublin Institute of Technology building on Bolton Street, Dublin.

The new block is to be located within the boundary of the existing car park with the retention of parking facilities for #40 cars and dedicated space for secure bicycle parking. It will also link to the existing, adjacent Block E building, which is to be refurbished.

Presentations will take place from 18:00 to 21:00 on May 3rd in room 446, DIT, Bolton Street, Dublin.

Teams will be available between 17:00 and 18:00 to discuss their proposals with formal presentations by each commencing at 18:15 after a project introduction from 18:00 to 18:15.

Supported by ARUP (competition sponsors) and software providers Autodesk and Solibri, 6 teams of 4-5 members will present their EIR response, based on UK Level 2 BIM requirements, covering Strategic Definition, Preparation & Brief, Concept Design, Developed Design, Technical Design, Pre-Construction, and Final Tender Design stages including elements such as:

  • Pre Contract BEP
  • FM & Client Engagement
  • MIDP, TIDP, CIC Protocol & Procurement
  • Model Proposals & Energy Analysis
  • Building Regulations Part L and EPC requirements
  • Lean manufacture, construction and assembly
  • Green manufacture, construction and assembly
  • Developed Model Design with Cobie Outputs
  • Buildability & Design Coordination
  • Levels of Detail / Development
  • CDE
  • Final Model Design and PIM/AIM
  • Asset Operation
  • Data Security Requirements

This multidisciplinary, team project represents 25% of the grading of DIT’s Level 9 Postgraduate Diploma in Collaborative BIM (which itself is ⅔ rds of the MSc in applied Building Information Modelling & Management).
