District 4 Little League Umpire Mechanics Clinic - Plate Mechanics Section 3/26/2017
Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
An instructional clinic designed to provide the Little League umpire with training on the mechanics used by the Plate Umpire. The clinic instruction will cover proper positioning behind the plate, calling strikes and balls, and other mechanics used by the Plate Umpire. Clinic will include both Soft Toss controlled instruction and live pitching with machines.
This clinic is designed for umpires with at least one season of experience, but all are welcome.
Instructors willl be from the California District 4 Umpire Training Staff and other Western Region Little League instructors.
Students need to be prepared for live pitching. You must have your own protective equipment to participate in the Pitching Machines drills - mask, chest protector, leg guards, and protective cup. Students should wear appropriate shoes (no metal cleats). Wearing your umpire uniform of shirt, pants and hat is encouraged.
Lunch will be provided before the clinic session.
This is Part 2 of a two part clinic. The morning session will cover Base Umpire positioning and mechanics instruction. You may attend one or both parts of the clinic, but must register for each section.
Junior Umpires (ages 13-18) should consider attending the Junior Umpire Clinic on this same date at the same location in lieu of attending this clinic. Please contact us for more information.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Yes. Participants must be at least 13 years of age.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
No dogs or other pets are allowed. The use of tobacco products and e-cigarettes is not allowed.
Students should bring everything they need for active participation and dress accordingly.
Can I attend only part of the clinic? Can I attend part of one day and finish the clinic at one of the other scheduled dates?
We know that several hours is a significant amount of time to devote for a Little League volunteer. However, the clinic is designed to build upon skills learned throughout the moring so partial attendance is discouraged. Only those students who stay for the entire clinic will receive the printed instructional materials.
You may also attend the morning Base Mechanics clinic by registering for that as well.
