District 4 Little League Umpire Mechanics Clinic - Field Mechanics Section...
An instructional clinic designed to provide the Little League umpire with training on the field mechanics used on a 60 foot diamond in a 2 umpire system. The clinic instruction will cover positioning, making calls and proper signals. Mechanics used by both plate umpire and base umpire positions in making calls on plays on the bases will be covered.
This clinic is designed for umpires with at least one season of experience, but all are welcome.
Instructors willl be from the California District 4 Umpire Training Staff and other Western Region Little League instructors.
Each student will receive a District 4 Umpire Manual with complete information on all the skills practiced during the clinic. Each student will also receive a Little League Umpire patch.
Students need to be prepared for active participation on a grass and dirt field. They should wear appropriate shoes (no metal cleats). Wearing your umpire uniform of shirt, pants and hat is encouraged.
Lunch will be provided following clinic session.
This is Part 1 of a two part clinic. The afternoon session will cover Plate Umpire positioning and pitch calling instruction. You may attend one or both parts of the clinic, but must register for each section.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Yes. Participants must be at least 13 years of age.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
No dogs or other pets are allowed. The use of tobacco products and e-cigarettes is not allowed.
Students should bring everything they need for active participation and dress accordingly.
Can I attend only part of the clinic? Can I attend part of one day and finish the clinic at one of the other scheduled dates?
We know that several hours is a significant amount of time to devote for a Little League volunteer. However, the clinic is designed to build upon skills learned throughout the moring so partial attendance is discouraged. Only those students who stay for the entire clinic will receive the printed instructional materials.
You may also attend the afternoon Plate Mechanics clinic by registering for that as well.
