Student Agency and Assessment in Instruction- Rituals and Routines
Goal: Participants will gain strategies for supporting agency and formative assessment in the Math lesson.
- Define agency and review the supporting research
- Describe agentic practices for teachers and students in effective Math classrooms.
- Identify five high-leverage strategies for formative assessment in an agentic classroom.
- Explore the use of one formative assessment strategies in supporting teacher and student agency.
Structure: This session will have a whole group component and a grade band break-out component. Participants will have an opportunity to share artifacts with each other and support each other in learning from the experiences and artifacts shared.
Intended Audience: Principal designee-one per school- it is recommended that the same person attends all the sessions and be responsible for leveraging the content and experiences of the sessions to build capacity within the school. This person should ideally be a coach, or instructional lead and should work with the professional development committee.
Accountability: Participants are expected to maintain a folder/binder of related resources and artifacts. Please take your curriculum materials with you to all sessions
