Distribution for Independent Film Workshop with Filmmaker Sarah Moshman

HI! I'm Sarah Moshman.

I'm a Filmmaker who works in both narrative and documentary. I have directed 3 feature-length documentaries and a narrative short, each one I led the charge for distribution and have learned so much. I have done educational and grassroots distribution and marketing for my films where I have worked with brands, screened over 1000 times in schools and workplaces, and I have gotten my films on Netflix worldwide, Hulu, DirecTV, PBS, Oculus, iTunes, Amazon and much more. Each film requires a unique distribution strategy, and you need to be empowered to know your options as you make your film!

By the end of this workshop you will be familiar with the potential paths of distribution for your independent film - semi theatrical, SVOD, VOD, AVOD, TVOD, and educational as well as some non-traditional paths of distribution that can be effective for impact and revenue. I will also talk about film deliverables to think about and what red flags to look out for in distribution contracts.

No experience necessary, just curiosity!

My approach to teaching is very casual, warm, and nurturing. Nothing about this is intimidating I promise. This is a safe space to ask questions and learn practical knowledge.
