Join us for an informal evening of science exploration and discussion with

  • Kathryn "Kay" Hire - NASA Astronaut who has flown aboard two Space Shuttle missions

  • Dr. Joel S. Levine - Author of The Human Mission to Mars: Colonizing the Red Planet

  • Pat Troutman - Lead Human Space Architect at NASA Langley

This evening, inspired by the upcoming PBS Series Beyond A Year in Space, explores the current work, historical perspective, and the future of, space exploration with a focus on what it will take for humans to get to and sustain life on Mars.

The agenda for the evening:

6 - 7:00 pm - Enjoy Food Trucks, a Cash Bar and Space Exploration Activities: Space Exploration Activities provided by MathScience Innovation Center (home of NASA's Challenger Learning Center); NASA Wallops Flight Facility; NASA Langley Research Center; Virginia Space Grant Consortium

7 - 9:00 pm - Presentation by Experts in Space Exploration; Preview of Beyond a Year in Space; Q&A
