Disruption Proof: Young People, Tech & the Future of Work
Driven by the incredible pace of technology and innovation, the nature of work is rapidly changing. More than half of the children entering primary school today will end up working in jobs and fields that do not yet exist. To succeed in an ever-changing world of work, youth must have the necessary 21st century soft skills needed to embrace innovation and prepare for tomorrow and beyond. Access to the tech industry, work experience and mentoring, along with exposure to entrepreneurial skills and mindset, are critical to preparing the workforce of tomorrow.
Hosted at the Urban Institute, this breakfast event will feature:
Welcome from Urban Institute President Sarah Rosen Wartell
Keynote address from Deputy Secretary of Commerce Bruce Andrews
Moderated by Dean Garfield, President and CEO of ITI
Sarah Bianchi (Airbnb), Martha Ross (The Brookings Institute), Alix Guerrier (Learnzillion), and Yemina Riquelme (UA Alum and Virginia Tech Intern)
We hope you can join us for this panel discussion on the imperative of cross-collaboration in order to create opportunities for young people and the business community to train, prepare, and leverage the skills of the next-generation of workers and innovators.
